A Romantic Getaway at WB Abodes: The Sunsetter in Wilmington, NC
Celebrating milestones in a marriage is a special tradition, and what better way to commemorate seven years of togetherness than with a romantic getaway? In August 2022, D’Andre’ and I had the pleasure of staying at WB Abodes' The Sunsetter in Wilmington, North Carolina, for our wedding anniversary. This charming rental not only provided a cozy and intimate space for us to unwind but also offered a fantastic location with plenty of activities to make our anniversary truly memorable.

The Sunsetter and Its Allure
Nestled in the heart of Wilmington, The Sunsetter by WB Abodes is a haven of comfort and tranquility. This beautifully designed rental exudes a coastal charm that immediately captivates visitors. As we stepped into our abode for the weekend, we were greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere, setting the perfect tone for our celebration.
The Sunsetter is tucked away in a small retail and shopping area just near the ocean. It’s the true definition of a Hidden Gem and we’d dare to say you’d almost miss it if you weren’t looking for it. We loved this aspect of added privacy despite being located in a central area and this added a level of comfort and security so that we could truly enjoy our stay.

The Sunsetter offered the perfect amount of space for two. We felt so cozy in every room and every element of the stay was intentionally designed and aesthetically pleasing to enter. The Sunsetter offered a quiet location for us to unwind after our drive and we quickly made ourselves right at home!

Rooftop Retreat with a View
The highlight (and our personal favorite) of The Sunsetter is its rooftop patio, offering a breathtaking panoramic view of Wilmington. The expansive vista includes a view of the Banks Channel, providing a picturesque backdrop for a romantic evening. As the sun dipped below the horizon, we found ourselves enchanted by the city lights and the tranquil river below. The rooftop became our private oasis, a place where we could savor the beauty of the moment and each other's company. The evening sunsets made the patio the hardest place to leave and there were often days we were tempted to stay on the roof rather than venture down to the beach because we loved it THAT much!
The nearly 800 sq. ft. rooftop deck offers gorgeous views and plenty of space to lounge.
The rooftop patio was perfect for morning Mimosas before heading to the Beach for the day.
Convient Local Coffee Nearby: The Workshop
Located conveniently beneath The Sunsetter, in the shops below — The Workshop Coffee Shop added an extra layer of delight to our stay. Aromatic coffee wafted through the air as we ventured downstairs each morning. The charming café proved to be the perfect spot to kickstart our day with a cup of expertly brewed coffee and delicious pastries. The proximity of this quaint establishment made our mornings even more enjoyable, setting a positive tone for the rest of our anniversary vacation and making it super easy to grab breakfast each day before heading to the beach. Not to mention the unexpected surprise of finding fossils for sale and on display as we placed our coffee order. This place is a must-see during your stay at The Sunsetter!
The Workshop Coffee Shop offers Espresso and Fossils - a truly unique combination.
Convenient to Wilmington's Historic Charms
Beyond the comforts of The Sunsetter, Wilmington beckoned with a host of activities and things to do. We walked from The Sunsetter to the historic Johnnie Mercer’s Fishing Pier, soaking in the charm of the town’s oceanfront streets and waterfront views.
Built in the 1930’s the pier was originally a completely wooden structure.
Beautiful sunsets await any visitor of Wilmington’s Wrightsville Beach oceanfront.

From the cozy interiors of our rental to the enchanting rooftop views and the delightful experiences at The Workshop Coffee Shop, every moment was infused with romance and relaxation. Wilmington, with its rich history and contemporary allure, provided the perfect backdrop for our celebration.
As we bid farewell to The Sunsetter, we couldn't help but make a promise to return – this gem by WB Abodes had stolen our hearts, and we knew we would gladly choose it as our sanctuary anytime we found ourselves in Wilmington.
